Importance of Fitness
Fitness is state of health and well-being of a person. A person is termed healthy if he/she is free from diseases and has a balanced physique and lifestyle. Staying fit is an insurance to be self-dependent in old age. Making fitness a priority will energize you; make you look and feel better, and help diffuse stress.
Obesity is becoming a major problem across the globe these days. When you are obese, your overall quality of life will be diminished. You may not be able to do things that you used to do earlier, such as participating in enjoyable activities. You tend to avoid public places. You may feel shy while attending parties, marriages and family functions. Obese people are highly discriminated and bullied by their colleagues at their work places.
Obese children have to deal with a lot of pressure to lose weight. Due to their body weight, they are unmercifully teased at school. This kind of taunting can take an emotional toll on children, due to which they may feel isolated, embarrassed and sad.
Few weight-related issues that affect the quality of life of a person are:
• Sexual Dissatisfaction
• Low confidence
• Social isolation
• Gynaecological problems, such as infertility and irregular periods in women
• Erectile dysfunction in men
